Two performances on the schedule

Colonial Inn

Colonial Inn and Motel BISTRO, Watkins Glen, NY

After a winter and spring hiatus, Diamonds in the Rough are stepping back out to strut our stuff in 2016 — first as part of the ongoing Sunday Folk Revival Series at Colonial Inn Bistro in Watkins Glen, on July 24, and then (we hope!) to Binghamton Porchfest, on the 28th of August.

Binghamton Porchfest seems to still be in the planning stages, but they let us in last year… and even assigned us a terrific porch complete with super-accomodating host, musician Tom Egan. We’re hoping to be there again, but apparently the scheduling isn’t complete. We’re all keeping an eye on the Porchfest web page, and you can too —

The Porchfest webpage is here. Or pick up free monthly issues of the wonderful Triple Cities Carousel arts newspaper, which sponsors Porchfest. Porchfest is on Facebook, too.

We’re looking forward to these gigs, and hope to see you there!

Idlewild Stepping in for DITR at RiverRead

Idlewild: Tom and Marie Quigley, Amy Shapiro, and Danielle Spindler-Swart

So chagrinned — Glenda put off her art show at RiverRead Books for several months in order to get a date when they had no music booked for First Friday opening night, so DITR could sing… and then two weeks before the opening we discovered a scheduling conflict with an Ithaca event that one of us was obliged to attend.

But our friends in Idlewild, a wonderful acoustic string band, stepped up and volunteered to take our place on December 6 at RiverRead Books, 5 Court St., in Binghamton NY. Thank you, Danielle and friends! It’s going to be a great opening, and a great night.

Danby Town Hall and beyond

What a lovely time we had singing at Danby Town Hall yesterday! An attentive, VERY appreciative audience, larger than expected — a beautiful day to hold a concert outdoors — and of course, anytime we get to sing together is great.

Next up: a private concert in October, then the Cranberry Coffeehouse, Binghamton, October 24… UNLESS someone comes up with a gig or two for us in the intervening weeks!

Diamonds in the Rough at the Caroline Farmers’ Market

Confirmed! One our favorite just-for-fun gigs, the Caroline Farmers’ Market at the Brooktondale Community Center. Come on out, buy some veggies or crafts, and join us for some a cappella harmonies. Maybe we’ll even sing something with a chorus for you to sing along with. (Requests are welcome, if we know them… or think we might.)
